Construction to Widen Main Street

An $8 Million construction project will be launched by the City starting Monday, July 25, 2016. The City will widen the sidewalks as much as 8 feet between 38th Avenue and 41st Avenue. The roadway will also be rebuilt and resurfaced in some areas, manholes, fire hydrants and water mains will be replaced as well. While this may cause a nuisance to some of our storefront properties, it will vastly improve the quality of life in downtown Flushing. It is said that the project will approximately take a year.
